The Danza Teatro International Prize 2022 – XIII Edition has reached over 130 registrations from all over the world
The 134 applications received for the Danza Teatro International Prize 2022 – XIII Edition confirm the continuous creation and research work of young choreographers in innovative contemporary and author dance projects. The Prize is promoted and organized by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Padua in collaboration with Arteven Circuito Regionale Teatrale, with the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo and the support of the Fondazione Finanza Etica.
Until 23 April it was possible to adhere to the Call for the International Prize, conceived and directed by Laura Pulin who also signs the artistic direction of the Festival Prospettiva Danza Teatro of the same name, to which choreographers aged between 18 and 40, residing in Italy or abroad, proposing creations already presented to the public in the form of a study or in progress. The nominations for the 2022 edition of the International Prize are young dancers who come from Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Iran, Israel, Malaysia, Malta, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, United States of America, Switzerland , Taiwan, Tanzania, Uganda as well as from Italy, with participants from 17 regions from north to south of our country.
In the pre-selection phase, as in the two previous editions, the Prize offers candidates the opportunity to perform live, in compliance with Covid-19 regulations and protocols, in front of a dedicated commission. In addition to the 2021 preselection venues, a fifth one will be added this year: Moncalvo on 10 May at Orsolina 28, Milan on 21 May at the theatrical hall of the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi directed by Tatiana Olear, in collaboration with the Course Dancer, in Florence on May 28th at 12:00 at Light Box – Opus Performing Space, Catania on May 28th at Scenario Pubblico / National Dance Production Center and in Rome on June 12th at the Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo as part of the Fuori Programma Festival .
Eight finalist choreographers will perform in Padua on October 15th in front of a commission, while only four of them will present their creation to the public and the jury in the Sala del Ridotto of the Teatro Comunale G. Verdi on October 16th. The project proclaimed the winner – first prize € 5,000 and a week of choreographic residency in Padua – will debut in its entirety as part of the Perspective Dance Theater 2023 Festival.
Today, some of the winning artists of previous editions are featured on the billboards of relevant contemporary dance festivals and reviews throughout Italy – we remember Giorgia Nardin, Marco D’Agostin, Masako Matsushita, Chiara Bersani, Daniele Ninarello and Carlo Massari.
