The category of the Grottesco, on which artistic reflection has been questioned since at least the eighteenth century, reveals deep consonances with contemporary aesthetics. Wanting to evoke in synthesis some characters, we think of the pettiness of the species, the infringement of the logical-discursive laws, the germination of new forms and new sense starting from unusual combinations.
The Grotesque combines the human universe with other worlds: animal, vegetable, mineral, astral or artificial, creating new possibilities of existence and shifting the centrality of the point of view and the Human. Removing from the comparison with the puppet the implications that concern body and movement, we will ask ourselves about the relationships between human and animal, artifice and nature, rationality and instinct, real and imaginary.
