He & She: frames of a timeless suburb without identity, not because it never had, wanted, desired it, but because it was stolen from bites in the useless and somewhat mysterious new definition of “Metropolitan City”, which means everything and its opposite and that sinks into oblivion. Characters, once protagonists, today maladjusted without a social function, passive extras, bystanders waiting to fall into a chasm of identity that will permanently erase their memory to make room for nothing. The city “evolves”, expands, totally forgetting and leaving behind those who once represented it with their dialect, their sayings, memories, their roughness.
A static microcosm, bodies ready to collapse, because this is what remains at the end of oblivion. An open-air study on emptiness, on not remembering why we were there and what we came to do, on: – “Dunno … I would almost go home … If only I remembered where I came from and where I was going …” A search that begins right on the outskirts and wants to stay there, on the edge, to tell and perhaps give the last breath to the lifeless bodies of disgraced Heroes, Kings, Divinities, who are waiting melancholy and dreaming for someone to approach them to “chat up”, to feel important again.
A contemporary pietas with vague references to the imaginative and ironic world of Roy Andersson, a physicality that alternates long moments of stillness with sudden collapses, dynamic and anti-dynamic; distortions, mismatches, because that’s what it is. A work that once again brings the Company back to a profound investigation of changes and social dynamics.
